When a sliding door track needs repair
A sliding door should glide with one finger. When it grinds, catches, jumps or sticks halfway, the track is often part of the problem. The track is the channel the rollers ride in, and it takes a beating from foot traffic, grit and years of use.
Common signs of track trouble include a door that is hard to slide or makes a scraping sound, a visible dent or bend in the metal rail, a door that has come off the track, a panel that rubs the frame, and a gap that lets in dust or air. Sometimes the track is only packed with dirt. Sometimes the rail is worn flat or bent out of shape, and cleaning alone will not bring it back.
Our technician looks at the track and the rollers together, because one often causes damage to the other. Worn rollers can chew up a track, and a damaged track can wear out new rollers fast. Checking both means you only pay to fix what is actually wrong, and the repair lasts.
We work on sliding glass doors and patio doors, including Andersen, Pella, Milgard, Marvin, Jeld-Wen, Simonton, Fleetwood, Therma-Tru, Hurd, Peachtree and other common brands.

Sliding door track questions
Why is my sliding glass door hard to slide or grinding?
Usually it is worn rollers, a dirty track or a damaged track. Dust and grit pack into the channel and wear the rollers, and a bent or flattened rail makes the door catch. We check both the rollers and the track so the fix addresses the real cause.
My sliding door came off the track. Is it safe to lift it back?
Glass panels are heavy and can break or injure you, so it is best not to force one back by yourself. Slide it clear of the opening if you can do so safely and keep people away from it. Call (480) 741-2405 and ask about same-day service. After hours, leave a message and we will get back to you the next business day.
Can a bent sliding door track be repaired?
Often, yes. Minor bends and dents can be straightened and a clogged track can be cleaned and restored. If the rail is worn through or badly damaged, we will explain whether a repair or a replacement is the better choice.
How does Phoenix dust and monsoon debris affect my track?
Fine desert dust and monsoon debris settle in the track and act like sandpaper on the rollers. Sun and heat also wear down plastic parts and seals over time. Keeping the track clean and the rollers and weatherstripping in good shape helps the door last.
How much does track repair cost?
It depends on what the door needs. We give a free in-home quote with upfront, flat-rate pricing, so you know the full price before any work begins and there are no surprise fees.
Will I need to replace the whole door?
Not always. Many track problems are fixed with a repair and new rollers. If the door is too worn to fix well, we will say so and show you the options, with no pressure to buy.
